Sthira Sukham Asanam

This Sutra "Sthira Sukham Asanam "is one of the three times Asana(postures) is mentioned in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Sthira meaning steady or stable, Sukham for comfort and with ease and Asanam for asana or postures.

In essence when practicing Asanas( postures) , or what we most commonly refer to as yoga, it has to done without any discomfort or pain, listening to the body and with being totally self aware and being present in the moment. Breathing has to be through the nose and conscious with total awareness.

As the famous Yogi BKS Iyengar said " The quality of your breath is the quality of your practice". Integration of the body, breath and mind during a class is the key.

With patience,perseverance and a regular practice it is possible to achieve the goals of Yoga
